July 10, Day 14 PART 2...see PART 1 after this FIRST!!!

Walking away from Edgartown Lighthouse, we use the path known in past centuries as the "Bridge of Sighs" - a popular spot where sailors would walk with their loved ones before they departed to sea.
Bob and I are making our way away from lighthouse you see ahead. The pathway is actually crushed seashells, but one has to be careful not to stray from the path due to poison ivy. The girl that runs the lighthouse tour got entangled in some just before we arrived, and it looked PAINFUL!

A quick snapshot taken while standing up through the top of the open Jeep. What a SKY!

One of many that make someone looking in say, "Ahhhhhhhhh!" Edgartown has the most gorgeous houses.

Between two houses, a little treat peeks through when walking down the street.

I hope the colors are bold when you see these beauties!

I LOVE the two-story wrap-around decks!!! Once again, Bob and I have been blessed with GREAT weather this trip.

Mom...I know you and Debbie would LOVE to hang out on this porch having tea and chocolate-frosted BROWNIES...that would be a slice of HEAVEN, no??? This looks like a "Martha Stewart" setting.

This is a quick peek viewing a portion of what the residents of this home enjoy from their backyard open deck.

Edgartown is the most beautiful town on this island, and is reportedly the most popular for weddings in the summer! This is the main narrow street that parallels the water, lined with stunning homes with well-manicured landscaping and flowers. In between many of the homes, passers-by can view crisp white sailboats and vessels going by on the water.

A glorious home with vibrant hydrangeas (spelling?) along the front porch...they grow very well on the East Coast.

This was taken at about 6:15 pm. looking to the West over the Atlantic. The locals say we should really see a beautiful sunset if we can stay here until 9:00 pm., but we have to eat supper and catch the last ferry on the other side of Martha's Vineyard by 9:35. It is still so beautiful.

This stately lighthouse at Aquinnah is named "Gay Head" and overlooks the "clay cliffs" and the Atlantic behind and to the left of this shot. The light flashes red, then white, red, etc. so we timed the pics to show each...but we like the red the BEST! :>) :>)

Overlooking the bluffs of Aquinnah, the furthest southwestern tip of Martha's Vineyard island...the beautiful lighthouse you saw is up toward the right of this picture.

These are some colorful small boats dry-docked on the sandy beach on the "Vineyard."

Bob and I chose a great little restaurant to have dinner before boarding the last ferry back to the mainland, at 9:30 pm. This has been a great day cuz we LOVE TO EXPLORE!
